Transforming Classrooms into Idea Laboratories!

Carretica Cuentera 2020 Educational Tour

The Costa Rica Foundation for Sustainable Development carried out the Carretica Cuentera 2020 Educational Tour: Education for Change, an innovative project that inspired children across the country through critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving. During this tour, workshops were held in elementary schools, using stories with open endings to encourage students to propose solutions to issues of national and regional interest related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Thanks to the support of the Foundation, the educational tour reached more than 50 educational centers and benefited over 7,500 children in 7 provinces across the country. The workshops transformed classrooms into spaces where imagination and collaboration took center stage, fostering the development of essential 21st-century skills.

Project Objectives

The objective of the Carretica Cuentera Educational Tour was to bring creative tools into classrooms that promoted active participation by students in building community solutions. Through this approach, the aim was to instill, from an early age, values related to violence prevention, equity, environmental care, and solidarity.

In each workshop, students worked in teams to solve problems presented in stories with open endings, linking their solutions to the SDGs of the 2030 Agenda. Additionally, teachers and students had access to the free educational app "Carretica," which complemented the workshop content with interactive digital resources.
